About the
Iowa Agriculture Tree Planting Initiative
America250
In 2026, as we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, we honor our Founding Fathers and the cornerstones of faith, family and freedom on which our great nation was built. These values, coupled with hard work and resilience, are what drove America - and agriculture - then and will continue to guide us into the future.
Overview
Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig is serving as vicechair of the Governor's Iowa America 250 Task Force. As part of Iowa’s statewide celebrations, the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship is proud to partner with the Iowa FFA and Iowa 4-H to launch a youth focused tree-planting initiative, inviting youth to take an active role in conserving the land that has supported generations of farmers.
Our young people are hardworking and ready to make a difference. By planting trees, Iowa youth involved in FFA and 4-H can help honor America’s history and shape our future — strengthening communities and helping keep our rich natural resources healthy and productive.
